Title: Compulsion

December 07, 2006

Maybe having a giant 22 pound cat is what drove Ross to want a tiny computer, or maybe it's just Ross' uber geekiness and Mac addiction, but whatever the case, we were all pleased as punch when Ross' new Mac Mini arrived today. Especially Simone. She ran around meowing excitedly while Ross opened the box until he finally put the Mini on the floor so she could see it. We didn't leave it there long, however, for fear that Simone would sit on it. Apple does build a great computer, but not even a Mac could hold up against giant dirigible cat butt.

So Santa came a bit early this year, stuffing Ross' stocking with the Mac Mini he has been eyeing for awhile, and even though I don't fully understand why we needed this computer, it was worth it just to see Ross' eyes glaze over with pure, unadulterated lust and joy. Nothing makes him happier than that new Mac smell. Other men respond to perfume and pheromones, but it's the scent of shiny white plastic that rocks Ross' world. That and the smell of popcorn. So if I could just figure out how to smell like a freshly popped hot buttered Mac... Ah, the challenges of romancing a geek. Apple doesn't bottle their scent and I've yet to find an OS X compatible thong, so I'll have to stick with the ol' tactic of wearing my iPod in my cleavage.

And while I said that I don't know why we need a Mini, there is a reason Ross wanted it, I just don't understand it. Ross got the Mini so that he can pair it with the TVMax we recently got and Ross' explanation of why that's nifty contained the phrase, "it'll kind of be like another Tivo." And the Mini is now sitting on our living room Tivo, along with the TVMax, and Ross is salivating with excitement so apparently all is well and good within our geek kingdom, even if I'm baffled by it. We already had eight Macs and two Tivos but it seems we needed a ninth Mac and a third Tivo like thing for our lives to be complete. And boy is life ever complete, now that we can watch tv on our computers and our computers on tv.
