And the quest continues...
UP vs Utah in the second round of the playoffs. UP won with a 3-0 victory, comeplete with a header goal off a conrner kick by Lisa Sari. Lisa is one of my favorite players but, since she mostly plays defense, she doesn't often get the chance to score, so it was quite a thrill when she notched one in today. Par to course, Lisa was humble about it and gave the credit to Angie Woznuk, who launched the corner kick. "I didn't even have to move," Lisa said. "She just hit me right in the head."
Now UP advances to the third round where they'll play the winner of the Texas vs Connecticut game. The third round match will be November 19th and the location will be determined by who wins the Texas-Connecticut game. Texas is a top seed so, if they beat Connecticut, UP will play Texas in Texas. But if Connecticut pulls off an upset and beats Texas, the third round game might be in Portland, what with UP and Connecticut both being unseeded and UP having a better record. Probably needless to say, we're rooting for Connecticut.
And now, with Santa Clara's shocking elimination in the first round and Loyola Marymount losing as well, UP are the only West Coast Conference team left in the playoffs. Now if only someone would eliminate UNC, things would be nifty.
