Title: Compulsion

October 27, 2006

Keep hearing in the news about how "President" Bush and his henchmen keep declaring that the Iraqi government and people better get their acts together and stop the violence in their country because the U.S. is running out of patience and aren't going to stick around and help Iraq forever, which is a proclamation that baffles and infuriates me in light of the fact that the U.S. is the one who started the war.

How hypocritical is that? To start a war in and invade another country then get pissed off and threaten that country when the war doesn't go according to plan? Iraq didn't ask for this. They didn't ask for a war in their country, didn't ask to be invaded, they weren't in any position to be able to handle a war, and the war the U.S. started is the very thing that caused Iraq to morph out of control and become so violent and now we're pointing our finger at them telling them to get their act together because we won't help them forever. Won't help them forever?! How have we even helped them at all?

God, I really hate our government and politics in general. The war in Iraq is bad enough but now we also have to put up with the war between republicans and democrats. I'm sorry republicans but if your cohorts accept bribes, molest children, and who knows what else, the issue isn't when those crimes are brought to light or by who, but simply that those crimes even happened at all. Once again, it's the whole taking responsibility for your actions thing, but I guess I should stop hoping for that since, these days, politicians seem morally opposed to, well, morality.

The other night I had been thinking that a solution to the entire political mess in the U.S. would be to send the Bush administration and Congress over to fight the war in Iraq, but then I realized that the Iraqis have already suffered enough. The last thing they need or deserve is to have our politicians over there screaming at them about morality while bribing their officials and soliciting their children for sex. We're going to have to find another solution, like figuring out how to raise democracy from the grave its been put in.
