Holy guacamole... The Timbers won again! It's a massive two game winning streak! But Puerto Rico did help some by scoring an own goal, but the Timbers did notched two goals of their own, for a lovely 3-0 victory.
Although, I guess I should point out that that is not the Timbers in the photo. The photo is of the halftime entertainment, a rousing soccer match between various mascots, which was pretty funny. Larry the Lightbulb was there, along with McGruff the Crime Dog, UofO Duck, Chuck E. Cheese, and some mascots I didn't recognize. Timber Jim was out there as well and, since he was the only one not dressed up in a dorky, cumbersome outfit, he was able to take on all the mascots and win. And he didn't even have his chainsaw with him!
Now, if we could just inspire the Timbers to keep winning, and get the top teams in the league to lose the rest of their games, things would be dandy. But, since that's not likely to happen, we can at least take comfort in the fact that we have the greatest mascot in the world. And, after this crappy season, we might just add Timber Jim and his chainsaw to the Timbers' lineup next year. Because, as the old saying goes, if at first you don't succeed, get a chainsaw wielding lumberjack and scare the crap out of your opponent.
