Title: Compulsion

Whoa! The Timbers actually won last night! I half expected to see a herd of flying pigs circling the stadium when it happened since the Timbers' record lately made a win seem about as likely as pigs flying. In their previous 11 games, the Timbers had tied 3 and lost 8, so this win was desperately needed.

Not that there's much chance of the Timbers making the playoffs, but the win did at least help lift the fans' spirits, which is a damn good thing since 'angry mob' was becoming a very apt description of them. I was worried that one more loss would've caused people to storm the field and run coach Agnello's undies up the flagpole, with Agnello still in them. But thankfully Agnello, and his undies, are still safe and now we're up to a whopping six wins this season.

Now, in order to make the playoffs, all the Timbers have to do is win -all- of their remaining four games and pray that all the teams above and below them in the standings lose the rest of theirs. And pigs flying is actually a much more likely possibility than that. Now if only we could teach those flying pigs to play soccer...
