Title: Compulsion

Left Carson City, Nevada today and drove to Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a six hour drive but at times felt like it would never end. The dry, brown Nevada desert streched on forever, but at least the sky and clouds were pretty. It was a surreal experience, what with both of us having been born and raised in the green and mountainous Pacific Northwest. We're not used to flat landscapes and, at one point, Ross commented that the flatness made it feel like we might fall off the face of the earth. Luckily, gravity was on our side.

Of course, when we told people we were going on vacation and that we'd be spending time in Salt Lake City, they're natural response was "why?! why Salt Lake City?" And the answer is simple. I went to college in Salt Lake City and my first year of college was one of the best years of my life, so I'm rather sentimental about Salt Lake and wanted to go back for a visit. It had been years since I'd been back and, since we were already going to be in Nevada visiting my sister, we figured why not trek over to SLC for a few days?

So that's what we did, made the long drive and arrived in Salt Lake City this evening. We were exhausted when we got here, but hadn't had dinner yet, so we went straight to Dee's. Dee's is like Utah's version of Denny's, except with better food and a more old fashioned diner feel, and it was a regular hang out for my friends and I, back in the day. In college, I existed off of Dee's potato soup, french fries, and Dee's famous fry sauce, and that's exactly what I had tonight. Mmm! A tasty trip down memory lane.

So now it's time to slather cream on my nasty sunburn and get some sleep, and we'll need the rest since tomorrow we're going to (cue ominous music)... Temple Square! Buwahaha!
