Title: Compulsion

November 14, 2005

Tickets for the University of Portland's third round playoff game against Arizona went on sale today. It was a given that demand for tickets would be high, so we went to a ticket outlet as soon as we possibly could to buy tickets. But we were too late. The game was already sold out. Tickets went on sale at 1pm. We got to the ticket outlet at 5pm. And the game was already sold out. Turns out the game sold out in just two and a half hours.

Holy cow. I am stunned. I knew tickets would go fast, but this is just nuts. So much for soccer and women's sports not being popular. And while I am uber depressed that we didn't get tickets, I haven't actually given up on going to the game. With UP being the hottest ticket in town, there are bound to be scalpers selling tickets. Mind you, I'm not keen on scalpers and their exorbitant prices, but this is the playoffs we're talking about.

That, and the thought of women's college soccer being so popular that even scalpers are getting in on it kinda makes me chuckle. Never thought I'd see that happen. Although I may not chuckle quite as much when we have to pay through the nose for tickets. But it will be worth it. Provided we can get tickets. If not, I'm just going to go lay on the freeway. Not that I take soccer a little too seriously or anything...
