Sunderland AFC of the English Premier League (one of the best in the world) were in town to play against the
Portland Timbers. This was a huge game for the Timbers, since teams in the 2nd tier of US pro soccer rarely get a chance to play teams from the most prestigious leagues in the world, and over 15,000 fans turned out to see the game.
I'm ashamed to admit that I really thought we were going to get our arses kicked. I mean, Sunderland is in one of the best leagues in the world, so what were our chances against them? Apparently they were pretty damn good being the Timbers held Sunderland to a scoreless draw (0-0 tie). That's right, our underdog expected to lose Timbers held Sunderland scoreless. Woohoo!
I now repent of my heinous crime of doubting the Timbers. Tonight I will say 20 Hail Hugos and shoot 10 corner kicks.
