May 26, 2005   There's an old song that keeps popping into my head and getting stuck there for hours, day after day. Why this song has started popping into my head, I have no idea. It's a really old song and I'm not even fond of it, but lately this tune has taken to stalking me, especially in the shower.

This has been bugging me, like a pesky fly that keeps buzzing round my head and won't go away, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I decided to get the song from iTunes and listen to it over and over, in hopes that I'd get so sick of it my mind would bar it from ever returning.

So, I just went to download the song and... Now I can't remember it. It's been stuck in my head for days, I've been singing and humming it incessantly, and now I can't remember the damn song. Not the title, none of the words, not even the melody. I was just singing it ten minutes ago!

Now the irony is that, after days of desperately trying to get this song out of my head, I'm now racking my brain trying to remember it. I guess I'm going to have to take another shower, being that's when the song always attacks. Have soap, will channel bygone songs that drive me nuts.

Postscript: finally remembered the song. "Moon River... wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style some day..."

Now it's time to cross 'drive myself insane' off my to-do list.
