Title: Compulsion

May 13, 2005   I did go to the game last night, by myself, and enjoyed it. For however cheesy it might sound, it felt empowering to do something like that, to venture out on my own, what with how shy and introverted I've become. It wasn't the least bit difficult, like I thought it would be, and served as a needed reminder that I'm capable of such things. It felt good, like getting in touch with the chutzpah I once had. Yeah, all that from a soccer game.

Although, it is difficult to feel lonely or out of place at a Timbers game, what with the Timbers Army being there. A lively mass of people of every colour and creed, from every walk of life, and everyone is welcome. It's a nice thing to be a part of or, in my case, next to, since I only timidly hang out on the fringe. The Timbers Army is part of what make the team and the whole Timbers experience great, even the players think so. I mean, how often do players actually write poetry about their fans? :)

Of course, what really made the night is the Timbers won. It was a great game, with some incredible saves by Josh (aka uber hottie), and the game was tied at zero going into the last minute. I was preparing for another tie, but then Fadi worked his magic, scoring a goal and winning it at the last second. Sweet!

So, a beautiful day, I beat my shyness into submission, and the Timbers won. It was a winning situation all around. Except for Ross, because there's no way his geekfest was better than tonight's game. But when you choose nerdiness over soccer, you're bound to get the raw end of the deal. Or, in other words, what he deserved. Hrmf.
